Process Service — Common Questions
HPS quotes you a flat rate when you place your order. High-volume clients qualify for bulk discounts.
Give the court clerk a Motion to Appoint Servers with a short cover letter naming HPS. We can also provide any special private process server forms the court requires.
Yes. A flat rate applies per address attempted, so you'll always know the cost upfront.
That's where our investigation services come in. We'll locate a confirmed home or work address before attempting service so nothing is wasted.
Most assignments include 4 to 5 attempts. We'll follow your specific instructions on timing or dates if needed.
Quite a bit. We work weekends, early mornings, and evenings. We dress in plain clothes, check with neighbors, run plates, and we never leave a door notice. Preserving the element of surprise often makes the difference.
HPS will work with you to develop a new approach and can assist with obtaining updated paperwork if needed.
You receive a completed, notarized Affidavit of Service. This must be filed with the issuing court to complete the process, and we can handle that filing for you.
Yes. Same-day rush assignments are available for an additional fee.
We don't make a guarantee, but our success rate is high and our servers are experienced. We'll work diligently with you until the job is done.
Private Investigations — Common Questions
That's exactly what we do. We call them difficult locates and we're very good at them.
We need at least one identifier, such as a date of birth, last known address, or social security number, to make sure we locate the right person. The more you can provide, the faster we move.
An in-house skip trace searches databases for a last known address. A confirmed and verified locate means we've verified the subject is actually there. Big difference, especially before you attempt service.
Yes, with care. In personal situations, HPS uses a "right to first contact" approach. Once we locate the subject, we ask whether they wish to be contacted before sharing their information. This protects everyone involved.
If they're incarcerated, we provide the current address and a possible release date. If they're overseas, we'll identify the country and offer international locate options to continue.
It's rare. Fewer than 5 to 7% of subjects go unlocated at the flat rate, and those are typically individuals with outstanding warrants or who have relocated internationally. If that happens, we'll give you a full report of everything attempted and clearly outline what continued investigation would require.
Yes, but you'll receive a detailed report of all work completed. We don't disappear. We give you a clear picture of where things stand and what comes next.
Every subject is different, so our approach varies. Our investigators are experienced in a wide range of methods for difficult locates and they know how to adapt when a case gets complicated.
